September October
November December September
Jamie comes down to visit his family. He talks to young Jamie and remarks
how he will soon be a man.
October
Jamie shares his wisdom on the topic of shaving with Fergus and Rabbie MacNab during his visit to the house. He also tries to get Jenny, who is pregnant, to eat more (even though food is scarce).
November
Jamie, who has been hiding out in a cave, is down at the main house of
Lallybroch. Ian is not there as he has been arrested for the fourth time as a
traitor. Jenny, however, is not worried as she knows that Ian can prove that he
is not the Laird of Lallybroch, and no one would arrest her ten year old son
young Jamie, the true laird.
December
Three weeks after Jamie's previous visit to the house, Ian has still not returned. Jamie asks his sister to send for him when the baby is born. She is reluctant to do so. When Jenny's time comes, Fergus goes to Jamie but does not directly disobey Jenny's order not to tell Jamie that she is having the baby. Jamie returns with Fergus to the house.
After the baby is born, Jenny is glad that Jamie is there (even against her will). However, nearby English soldiers had heard a gunshot near the house and came to investigate. Jamie and the newborn, Ian ("for his da"), were hidden in the closet of Jenny's bedroom while Jenny dealt with the soldiers.
